Dr. Rachel Jameton is not only a Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Teaching-Learning Center at LCSC, she is also a mixed-media artist. She has nine miniature works on display at the Lewiston City Library. They are constructed using basswood, found objects, and other trinkets. According to her artist statement: "Because the focus of theses pieces is capturing knowledge, miniature books are a key feature. The book titles typically hint at the shape and context of our future lives, but some of them are poems that have inspired the piece."
Library patrons are encouraged to look closely at the freestanding pieces, but to refrain from touching. The miniatures will be on display through the fall.
