Critical systems will continue to function including water, wastewater, curbside garbage collection, traffic and streets maintenance, and engineering services, as well as fire and police services. The Lewiston Transfer Station is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, closed Sunday. Clearwater Composting has reopened to the general public. At this time they are only accepting cards. No cash or checks. Receipts will be emailed.

While the Lewiston Fire Department and Police Department continue to provide full emergency response services, their in-person public education activities and programs have been suspended. Join the Lewiston Fire Department on Monday, April 13th at 9:30 am for a live tour of Station 1 on their Facebook page.

Utility Billing continues with in-person payment capabilities being suspended. Payments may be made by phone with credit or debit card, by mail to PO Box 617, Lewiston, ID 83501, dropped off at the drop box located on the east side of City Hall, or online. Please call (208) 746-3671 ext. 0 for any Utility Billing questions, or email: The City has suspended shut offs and late fees until further notice, per Public health Emergency Order No. 20-03. Utilities continue to accrue charges on unpaid balances and remain due on the 15th of each month.

Full building permit and inspections, business licensing, as well as planning and zoning functions continue with staff utilizing remote capabilities. Inspectors are practicing social distancing when out performing inspections and giving clients the option to perform a virtual inspection. Community Development staff are providing information to local businesses about relief options available to help them through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lewiston Transit services continue with a reduced schedule.

The Lewiston City Library will remain closed to the public. They are accepting items for check in, but not check out. Digital resources are available, and for citizens without a library card, self-registration is available at A phone call to confirm contact information from a staff member will follow registration. City playgrounds are closed, per Public Health Emergency Order No. 20-02. City sport fields, sport courts, picnic shelters, trails, and open space areas where social distancing can be maintained will remain open. Gatherings, picnics, and organized group activities of more than 10 people will not be permitted. All restrooms remain open to the public and are cleaned and sanitized daily. The Lewiston School District has also closed their playgrounds and play structures located on School District property.

The Bryden Canyon Public Golf Course will remain open for play, Tee times available, but with substantial modifications to ensure players’ health and safety. The restaurant is open for grab and go service, but the pro shop is closed.

All in-person recreation programs have been canceled or postponed, but at-home programming, including workouts, games and activities for youth, adults, and families are being promoted on the Parks and Recreation Facebook page using the hashtag #StayActiveLCV.

The City’s Senior Nutrition Programming continues with grab and go meals available Monday through Wednesday at the Lewiston Community Center, and home delivered meals will continue to be provided Monday through Friday.
