Go on our website and start to write.
By Emma Schneider
I am a true millennial when I say I would rather use online chat/email than make a phone call if it is about something simple. Not for any fear of talking on the phone, but because I often find it quicker and more precise for me to write out my questions to someone. No getting put on hold, no being bounced around, just a direct conversation to solve a problem or answer a simple question quickly. If you are like me and enjoy an online chat, good news! The library now has a Live Chat function on our website.
Live Chat connects you to a staff member who is able to respond in real-time to your questions. This works best for quick questions that just need a little bit of problem solving like “Where is the On the Go schedule?” or “How do I sign up for a program?” Staff will work diligently to help you resolve any problems and answer questions. As per policy, the chat can only be used for these basic questions that do not require any personal information. For any account-based questions we are always just a phone call away and happy to help you that way for all of your account needs!
The Chat feature will be available from 10am to 6:45pm (or 4:45pm on Fri-Sat) during our open hours across our entire website in the bottom right hand of the webpage. It will be a button you press to open the chat window where you can ask a predetermined question, such as for our hours, or you can request to speak to a staff member. When selecting to speak to a staff member it will ask your first name (last name optional) and when a staff member engages it will say Lewiston City Library has joined the chat.
Live Chat may also require a little bit of patience as staff will be working at a Help Desk while helping you as well, however we will work hard to make sure you get everything you need and try to find solutions to your problems. We are excited to work with you through Chat.
As always, we are available to talk on the phone at (208) 798-2525 and will continue to be happy to work with you that way as well.
