The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) was authorized on March 27, 2020 to respond to the growing effects of the Coronavirus pandemic. CDBG entitlement communities have received additional funding to be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus crisis' impact on low to moderate income persons in their community. The City of Lewiston is receiving a total of $279,860 ($146,317 from the first round and $133,543 from the third round) in CDBG-CV funding.
CDBG-CV And CDBG-CV3
The City of Lewiston's first and third rounds of CDBG-CV funds have been programmed for two projects.
Project one is for the replacement of a deteriorating waterline in the Normal Hill area. This area is a Low-Moderate Area and includes mainly residential, but also St. Joseph Reginal Hospital and Community Action Partnership Food Bank. The total amount funding this project is $156,000.
Project two is funding Community Action Partnership Food Bank with the purchase of food and consumables to be distributed or funding cost for operations of the food pantry. The total amount funding this project is $122,360.
